The House

The Junior League of Pittsburgh’s 2018 Show House was held at the former Gibbs Personal Care Home in Wilkinsburg. The home is located just east of the city of Pittsburgh at 1300 Wood St., PA 15221. Dozens of local interior designers and landscape designers will be revitalizing this home — both inside and out — to showcase a historic part of the Wilkinsburg community.

At our Sip ‘N’ See event, the public had an opportunity to tour the home before the designers began their work. We showcased the “after” transformation to the public in May 2018.

Future Community Center

While past Show Houses were often private residences, the Wilkinsburg property is unique because it is viewed in the community as an “anchor property.” The house will serve as a catalyst for positive growth and rejuvenation in Wilkinsburg. The homeowner’s goal is to use the space to strengthen connections between community members by creating opportunities to meet and share knowledge and experiences. Moving forward, the property is expected to be a multigenerational, easily accessible gathering place for meetings, educational workshops, wellness events and more.
